York hosted the first ever York Balloon fiesta this weekend and of course I couldn’t miss it. Armed with my camera I headed down to the knavesmire, home to York Racecourse to see this colourful spectacular. It is the first of it’s kind to be held in Yorkshire and I joined hundreds of other people who came out to watch. Fortunately the weather held out and although a bit cold first thing it didn’t stop over thirty balloons taking to the skies. Britains youngest commercial hot air balloon pilot joined many others from around the country for this weekends amazing display.
Minster FM hosted a stage and supplied lots of music and entertainment in between the balloon flights. This is a totally free event and it is hoped that it will be the first of many here. Judging by the reactions from the crowds this is certainly one festival that you should make an effort to come to if it is on next year.
