If you haven’t been to Haworth and one of these 1940’s events let me tell you, you’re missing out. It’s such a fun few days and even better if you get into costume to join in. Tens of thousands of people attend to recreate the era. They’re held throughout the country but one of my favourites and one of the biggest is the one at Haworth village in the Wold Valley.
Events take place throughout the village, including vintage vehicle displays, evacuees event, re-enactments, speeches from Churchill, jive dancing, singing and bands playing. Topped off with a RAF vintage plane flypast this event has it all.
For a photographer like myself, this is like waking up on Christmas morning or going through the wardrobe into Narnia. The photo opportunities here are endless. It really is like stepping back in time with everyone recreating the spirit of the 1940’s.
